WELCOME to the North America Deaf Strongman website. This is the official Deaf Strongman website for all Deaf Strongman competitions in North America. The first Deaf Strongman competition is planned to take place sometime in 2008. Previously the plan was to host this firest ever Deaf Strongman games in 2007 but was changed to better plan the event with sComm, Inc, with their successful product the UbiDuo communicator device which began it’s mass distribution on January 29, 2007. The company will be the official sponsor for the first ever North America Deaf Strongman event.

UPDATE (October 27, 2007): Due to the limited number of participants for the competition the people of sComm and North America Strongman Games have decided that there will be no contest this year or next year. This goal to have the first ever deaf/hh strongman game is as of now shut down. We apologize any inconvenience this may have caused. And we hope that those who were planning to compete to continue with their exercise program and compete in other nearby local strongman events. I hope this idea has been an inspiration to others to try their hands on in strongman competitions.

UPDATE (June 25, 2007): Over the next 2 to 3 months a decision should be made on the location for the first ever North America Deaf Strongman games. The favorite site right now is looking to be Phoenix, AZ where the next 2008 Deaf Nation expo will take place. Be sure to prepare yourselves for this competition. Look under “NADS FAQS” on the left for more information on where you can do your training flipping tires and lifting Atlas stones. Or you can just do the best you can at your local gym.

Perhaps issue a challenge to SuperDeafy to a tire flip like this guy can do? Can SuperDeafy do it?

                                   +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

And now, with great pleasure, we are pleased to announce the cash prizes amount for the first ever North America Deaf Strongman competition that is planned to take place sometime in 2008.  This early announcement will allow interested deaf or hard of hearing people enough time to get ready to compete in this historic sporting event. This will be an open event for all weight categories for the time being. If we get enough interested people, the weight category may be split into two with those who weigh under 200lbs and those who weigh over 200lbs. But, for now, this will be an open event available to all interested males. The cash prizes, not including other awards such as trophies, t-shirts and other items which will be announced later on, are as follows for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes.

                                     +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Currently there are some options on the table where this NADS games will take place. We are still planning on going to one of the DeafNation expos location in the United States to host this event. Joel Barish of DeafNation is well aware of this and is excited at the prospect of this happening.

The first ever Deaf Strongman competition may consist a mix of novice and experienced strongmen or strongwomen competitors who are either deaf or hard of hearing. The number of competitors in this competition will depend on how many have signed up for this historic sporting event. This competition may end up having two separate events consisting of novice and experienced competitors and/or with two separate weight categories for those under 200lbs and those who weigh more than 200lbs. But for now we expect to have a mix of novice and maybe some experienced people to compete in the same events.

If you have questions please check out the NADS FAQs page before contacting us with questions.

When we do decide to host the first ever Deaf Strongman competition at one of the many DeafNation expos locations we can expect to have a large crowd there.  Past DeafNation expos have had attendances of anywhere from 3000 to 8000 people. A great opportunity to showcase your competitive spirits and products during the North America Deaf Strongman Games.

If things go well with the first ever North America Deaf Strongman Games we may expect to host the 2nd Annual North America Deaf Strongman Games. The weights could expected to be heavier to lift the second time around. And if we get enough women to participate, we could also hold a separate event for them that will include cash awards as well.

For those interested in competing or have questions  please send email to: NADS-games@hotmail.com (note: be sure to include the hyphen “-” between “NADS” and “Games” in your email address).

For those planning on competing please provide your name, gender, age, years of working out with weights, and any strongman or similar strength competitions you have competed in. Provide as much information that you are comfortable with.  Your name and email will be recorded. At a later date we will contact you and send you an electronic entry form for you to download to print out. Instructions on the form will be provided on where to return the form to. Cost to enter is yet to be determined but it is expected to be reasonable.

All entry fees are non-refundable! We will inform you via this website as to the cost of the entry fee so be sure to check back.

All deaf and hard of hearing competitors are eligible to compete.  You do have the option of wearing your hearing aid(s) or cochlear implant at anytime during the competition. Other requirements are to bring your competitive spirit, strength, and humor to have a good time.

NADS Team - We would like to welcome you to the North America Deaf Strongman Games. We hope that you will enjoy this unique sporting event. For those who are interested in competiting, go ahead and give this a shot and see if you can lift with the best of the strongmen and strongwomen.

Go NADS Games!

Only those with enough balls can compete!
